How Should I Care For My Pieces?
We reccomend storing your jewelry in a dry, soft bag or pouch as we use real stones and shells which tend to be delicate and need special care. We do not recommend exposure to water, oils, or sun. Exposure to these elements may cause discoloration and compromise the piece. We cannot offer refunds for damage caused by these occurences.
For our gold filled pieces we advise that they
DO NOT come in direct contact with any liquids, oils, lotions or any other possibly corrotive substance. Body oils that naturally occur on the skin can change the coloring of jewelry and we cannot offer refunds/return for this reason.
Some people have allergic reactions to different metals and we cannot offer refunds or returns for this reason.
You can re-polish gold & silver filled pieces with a jeweler's polishing cloth or with mild specialty cleaners but MIJU pieces are intended to age gracfully.
Gold filled pieces will darken but will not reveal a new color.
Gold plated pieces may loose their gold tone over time, as with gold tone pieces
We are of the WABI SABI mind set; let things decay with age and continue to love them regardless
What Are Recycled Glass Beads??
Powder glass beads are made by crushing glass to a fine powder and heating it so that the particles fuse together. The glass is then poured into clay molds, with a cassava leaf stem used to make the hole. They are baked in an oven and the glass fuses and the cassava stem burns up. This technique has been used in Africa for centuries. This method is sustainable and makes each bead unique.
What Materials Are Used?
All our items have their materials listed in their respective product information sections. Below is a guide to the terms used throughout the site;
Gold - Solid gold.
Gold Filled - As close as you can get to solid gold, most of our pieces can be polished with a jewelry cloth to renew their shine over time
Gold Plated - Gold covered Sterling Silver ( unless specified ) will fade quicker and easier than a gold filled piece and cannot be repolished
Gold Tone - a gold colored piece that will fade with time
